Body camera footage from a March 8 traffic stop in Miami shows the moments leading up to a fatal police shooting that was later ruled justified by the State Attorney’s Office. Miami Police Officer Olivier Gonzalez pulled over Antwon Cooper for speeding and illegal tinted windows. During the stop, Cooper informed officers that he did not have a valid driver’s license. When asked to step out of the vehicle for a pat-down, a physical struggle ensued. Investigators stated Cooper was armed and attempted to flee during the encounter. Sergeant Constant Rosewood responded to assist, and Cooper was shot during the struggle. He later died from his injuries. After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined the officers acted in self-defense and declined to file charges. This video presents the bodycam footage along with a factual breakdown of the events. Viewer discretion is advised.
