The man shot by a Connecticut State Police trooper Saturday was a suspect in a robbery in Rhode Island and had a revolver in his hand when he was wounded, according to the state Office of Inspector General and body camera footage released Wednesday. Footage from a body camera worn by Trooper Joseph Godbout shows the trooper fire one shot into the chest of Ruben Muller after the suspect reached toward his ankle and pulled out a silver revolver. Godbout then used his radio to report that he had fired his weapon, the video shows. According to the inspector general, the incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. Saturday near Killingly Commons in the Dayville section of town. Godbout spotted a vehicle at a Mobil gas station that was wanted in connection with a robbery in Rhode Island. Godbout's body camera shows him pull into the gas station and approach Muller, telling him to put his hands on the vehicle and asking for his license. Muller replied that he didn't have it and began running away across the parking lot toward a Taco Bell restaurant. Godbout pulled out a Taser and used it on Muller, but he was able to get up and keep running, the video shows.
