On October 8, 2024, Highlands Patrolwoman Curley observed a speeding vehicle traveling with no headlights on. By the time Patrolwoman Curley could turn her patrol vehicle around and initiate a traffic stop, the speeding vehicle swerved to the right and crashed into several parked cars. Patrolwoman Curley activated her body worn camera as the 34-year-old woman was exiting the crashed vehicle and walking over to the sidewalk. The woman initially denied consuming any alcoholic beverages, but based on the circumstances, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. As she was being placed under arrest for DUI, she became upset and confused, claiming that she passed all of the tests. She was transported to the Highlands police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.19% BAC. She was issued 7 summonses, which are discussed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
