Samuel Dubin, a 28-year-old, faces multiple charges including arson, breaking and entering, and malicious destruction of property after allegedly setting two fires in Dennis, Massachusetts, along Lower County Road. Two sheds were destroyed and nearby homes, mostly unoccupied seasonal rentals, were damaged. "It's after the season and no one is there. If a fire started in a duplex, it could wipe out the whole neighborhood very easily," said Lt. Peter Benson of the Dennis Police. Police began searching for Dubin after his parents requested a wellness check, indicating he might have a firearm. This prompted officers to set up a perimeter around the fire scenes, where they noticed holes in a fence that resembled bullet holes, raising concerns of potential gunfire. Though no weapon was found, officers took precautions to protect firefighters from a possible ambush. Dubin was later found walking in the area and taken into custody. "We could have lost houses, multiple houses instead of a couple of sheds," Benson noted. Dubin has since been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and faces a dangerousness hearing on Friday.
