On February 27, 2026, Haddon Heights Patrolman DeJoseph stopped a 27-year-old woman for driving the wrong-way on a one-way street. As he was speaking with the woman, he noticed that she had vomited on herself and he immediately observed indicators of impairment. The woman was briefly evaluated by first responders on scene, but she declined to be transported to the hospital. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but she ultimately refused. She was then placed under arrest and was transported to the police station for breath testing. She refused to provide breath samples and was issued 11 motor vehicle citations. On May 11, 2026, she pleaded guilty to Refusal to Submit to Chemical Testing. The other citations were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. She was ordered to pay $640.00 in fines and court costs. In addition, she was required to install an Ignition Interlock Device on her vehicle for 3 years and spend 48 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center.
