Fort Myers, FL - On November 27, 2025, at approximately 3:39 a.m., a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Toyota Camry traveling at a high rate of speed on Daniels Parkway in Lee County. The vehicle was observed traveling approximately 100 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. As the trooper attempted to initiate a stop, the driver accelerated, ran a red light at Gateway Boulevard, and fled eastbound on Daniels Parkway. Speeds during the pursuit exceeded 110 mph. The fleeing vehicle continued through multiple intersections, at one point traveling the wrong way in turn lanes on SR-82, creating a significant danger to other motorists. Additional FHP troopers responded to assist. Due to the extreme speeds, reckless driving behavior, and immediate threat to the public, troopers conducted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver. After multiple attempts and collisions during the effort to stop the vehicle, troopers were able to successfully box in the suspect vehicle on SR-82. The driver, identified as Bladimir Domingo Lopez (21) of Lee County, was taken into custody at approximately 3:45 a.m. Troopers observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Open alcoholic beverage containers were located inside the vehicle. Lopez provided breath samples of 0.135 and 0.134, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida. As a result of the incident, three marked FHP patrol vehicles sustained damage. No serious injuries were reported. Lopez was charged with: Fleeing to Elude with High Speeds DUI with Property Damage (3 counts) Reckless Driving with Property Damage (3 counts) Speeding 50+ MPH over the posted limit Open Container Violations
