Welcome to Bodycam Lockdown We explore real incidents through verified body-worn camera (BWC) footage to provide an unbiased, authentic look at what happens in the field. Our goal is to educate, inform, and add context—never to sensationalize. About This Video: Officers respond to a disturbance at a gas station. After initiating a lawful detention, they give clear commands—step outside, keep hands visible, and stop interfering with the investigation. The subject repeatedly refuses and tenses/pulls away when officers attempt to detain him, leading to an arrest for Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer (720 ILCS 5/31-1). In Illinois, 720 ILCS 5/31-1 applies when: An officer is performing an authorized act (e.g., investigatory stop or arrest), The person knows they are dealing with an officer, and The person knowingly resists or obstructs—such as pulling away, stiffening to avoid cuffs, blocking access, running, or otherwise physically impeding the officer. Verbal disagreement alone isn’t enough, but conduct that actually hinders the officer can satisfy the statute. Providing false ID during lawful detention can also be charged separately as Obstructing Identification (720 ILCS 5/31-4.5). This footage shows how a routine disturbance call can escalate when lawful orders are ignored, and how officers document commands, warnings, and control tactics to meet the legal elements of Illinois’ resisting/obstructing laws. Educational Value: This video examines how law enforcement enforces F.S. 856.011 (Disorderly Intoxication) and F.S. 810.09 (Trespass After Warning) — statutes designed to balance individual freedoms with public safety. Viewers gain insight into real-world decision-making, situational awareness, and policy-driven responses that occur during field encounters.
