Motorcyclist fatally shot when he pointed a gun at officer during struggle after a pursuit Ashtabula, OH - The incident began around 2:40 p.m. in the area of Dwight Avenue and East 48th Street. Deputies say they tried to pull over a motorcyclist with no registration, but the man sped away. Deputies and an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper chased the man for about 20 minutes across 15 miles. The sheriff’s office says the pursuit ended in a fiery crash at the intersection of Stanhope-Kelloggsville and Anderson roads. The man then ran away while flashing a gun, according to deputies. That’s when deputies say they felt threatened and fired at the man. He was later pronounced dead. The man has been identified as Jerry Pegram, Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office Chief Investigator Amber Stewart said.
