On Thursday, January 18, 2024, a joint investigation between Boston's Youth Violence Strike Force and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit resulted in the arrest of a suspect, later identified as Malik Parrish-Butler, 23, of Roxbury. Mr. Parrish-Butler was caught in possession of an illegal firearm outside 204 Norwell Street in Dorchester. Officers had observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Millet Street and Athelwold Street. Officers ordered both the driver and passenger out of the vehicle. The passenger, later identified as Malik Parrish-Butler, refused the officer’s orders. So, Parrish-Butler was assisted out of the vehicle. Upon being searched, the officers found him to be in possession of a Glock 35 gen4 firearm, a .40 caliber handgun, loaded with 13 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.
