On February 16, 2025, at around 3:16 AM, police officers in Middletown Township, New Jersey, responded to a terrifying late-night crash near Middletown High School North. The driver, Viviana G. Ayala-Rios (27), had lost control of her 2009 silver Dodge Journey after colliding with an electric pole (BT2622). The impact split the pole in half, leaving power lines hanging dangerously — and the car flipped multiple times before landing upright in the school’s parking lot. When officers arrived, Viviana was standing near the car. She admitted she had been drinking earlier that night at Matty’s Shore House, consuming two cans of Watermelon White Claw. Her eyes were bloodshot, and the odor of alcohol was immediately noticeable. During the Field Sobriety Tests, she showed multiple signs of impairment: Couldn’t maintain balance during instructions Missed heel-to-toe steps Used arms for balance and stepped off line Swayed during the one-leg stand She was placed under arrest by Officer R. Headden and transported to the police headquarters for processing. At the station, Officer J. Mania administered the Alcotest 9510, revealing a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of 0.11% — which is well above New Jersey’s legal limit of 0.08%. Viviana was booked under DUI (39:4-50) and charged with multiple traffic violations, including: Reckless Driving (39:4-96) Careless Driving (39:4-97) Failure to Maintain Lane (39:4-88) Driving with a Suspended License (39:3-40) She was later released to her boyfriend, Amando Monvil, who signed the responsibility form. A CD-ROM containing crash evidence was filed as property record #25MP00182. Viviana is scheduled to appear in Middletown Municipal Court on March 3, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
