On July 05, 2024 , officers from the Beachwood Police Department in Ohio were dispatched to the area of Chagrin Boulevard and Richmond Road following reports of an intoxicated male walking in the street. Upon arriving at the scene, police located the subject lying on the ground in front of a plaza building with his clothes disheveled and covered in dirt, indicating he had possibly fallen multiple times. When approached by law enforcement, the man became agitated , struggled to steady himself, slurred his speech , and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. After determining the subject had no medical conditions causing his behavior and was too intoxicated to care for himself , officers arrested him for disorderly conduct. This video provides a closer look at how patrol officers handle public intoxication encounters and secure individuals for their own safety. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
