On September 5, 2024, Chillicothe Police Officer Tuttle observed a vehicle driving with no tail lights. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the police report indicates he immediately smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle. The male passenger admitted to drinking, but the 29-year-old driver repeatedly stated she had not consumed any alcohol. Officer Tuttle asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and the police report indicates he could smell alcohol coming from her breath. She agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, Officer Tuttle advised the woman that it was clear that she had been drinking. That is when she admitted to consuming gas station vodka. She did not complete the remaining tests because of a pre-existing ankle injury. After being placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired, she advised officers that she had a loaded handgun in the center console of her vehicle. She was transported to the Ohio State Highway Patrol post for a breath test. The result was 0.245% BAC. She was then transported to the Ross County Jail. Her charges are listed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
