On October 27, 2024, at approximately 1:01 a.m., deputies were conducting routine patrols when they approached the intersection near 2967 Forrest Park Street, Bunnell, FL, 32110. They observed a large backyard party at this location. Discreetly parking nearby, they monitored the gathering to ensure compliance with regulations, particularly regarding underage drinking and noise levels during the holiday event. While observing the activities, deputies overheard a disturbance involving several individuals, indicating a possible physical altercation. They approached the residence on foot and observed a highly intoxicated male being escorted away from the property following the incident. As deputies attempted to engage the individual near the scene of the altercation, he refused to comply with their directives and continued walking despite being visibly intoxicated and uncooperative. To prevent him from proceeding further, deputies physically intervened. When the individual attempted to push past them, they secured him in handcuffs without further incident for investigative purposes. He was later identified as James Steedley.
