It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Around 12:30 AM on November 22, 2024, Hoboken Police officers responded to reports of a possibly intoxicated woman who had fled a car crash near 7th Street and Clinton Street. Sergeant Soto arrived in his patrol car and made contact with the driver on 7th Street. The driver was identified as Olivia Regina. Officers asked her to get out of the vehicle, and they quickly saw signs she was under the influence. They later learned her 2009 Honda Civic hit a 2024 Subaru Outback. Officer Ricky Truppner guided Olivia to the sidewalk and began field sobriety tests. He started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During this test, Olivia showed poor eye tracking, sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and nystagmus started before 45 degrees. Next was the Walk and Turn test. Olivia failed to keep her heel-to-toe step and took too many or too few steps. The last test was the One Leg Stand. She did not lift her foot properly and put it down before finishing the test. Because of the crash, her signs of impairment, and her poor performance on the sobriety tests, Olivia was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Her vehicle was seized and held for 12 hours under John’s Law. Officers took Olivia to the police station for processing. At the station, Olivia was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators and agreed to breath tests. Her breathalyzer results showed a BAC of 0.18%, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. After completing paperwork, Olivia was released to a sober adult who signed the Potential Liability Warning form for her. Olivia received several tickets.
