On April 1, 2025, Lacey Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident described as a vehicle hitting a tree. Officers arrived to find a 52-year-old woman sitting behind the wheel of her heavily damaged car. She claimed the crash was caused by her air bags randomly deploying. After being checked out by the fire department, the woman was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She also consented to a portable breath test, which resulted in a reading of 0.214% BAC. As she was being handcuffed, she decided she wanted to go to the hospital. While she was at the hospital, officers applied for and received a warrant for 2 vials of her blood. She was charged with Driving Under the Influence. The outcome of her case is unknown.
