CLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA — August 10, 2024. A deputy attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger after it failed to yield to traffic at Godby Road and Highway 314. The driver, 18-year-old Marquavious Hines, fled at speeds over 100 mph in a 45 zone, crossing double yellows into oncoming traffic and nearly causing multiple crashes. The chase ended after a PIT maneuver spun the vehicle out on Highway 314. Deputies detained all three occupants and recovered multiple firearms and drugs from the vehicle. Charges: Marquavious Hines (Driver): Reckless Driving; Fleeing/Eluding (Felony); Traffic Control Device Violation. Kemari Carter (Passenger): Possession of Firearm During a Crime (Felony); Theft by Receiving Stolen Property (Stolen Firearm); Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute (Felony). Sylisha McClendon (Passenger): Marijuana Less Than 1 oz (Misdemeanor); Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony).
