Clayton County Blackhawk units were in the Conley area when they observed a vehicle, freshly stolen only a few hours prior, drive past them. Units caught up to the vehicle as it merged onto Interstate 285. Unfortunately the driver of the stolen vehicle chose to flee when a traffic stop was initiated. As the pursuit progressed and after observing the fleeing suspect's erratic driving, deputies decided to use the Precision Immobilization Technique or PIT maneuver at the first chance to quickly terminate the chase. As the pursuit progressed onto Interstate 75, deputies saw a gap in traffic and successfully executed the PIT maneuver, spinning the vehicle into the concrete median, disabling the vehicle. Deputies were then able to apprehend the unharmed and armed suspect without any further incident. The suspect informed one of the deputies at the scene that he believed the Clayton County Sheriff's office had a NO-CHASE POLICY and that he thought he could simply ride off into the moonlight without being pursued. It was clarified to the suspect that not only are deputies permitted to pursue, but all deputies are also authorized to knock fleeing vehicles off the road as soon as it's possible, in order to quickly bring vehicle pursuits to an end and minimize the threat to the public. 🚨 This video is for educational purposes only, showcasing the dangers and potential ramifications of fleeing from law enforcement.
