On April 18, 2024, officers were dispatched to a beach in response to reports of a suspicious individual brandishing a "long stick" and threatening beachgoers. The reporting party stated that the individual had thrown the stick at them and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Upon arrival, officers located the individual matching the description provided and attempted to detain him. The individual resisted and was eventually placed in handcuffs. Witnesses at the scene reported that the individual had been disturbing other beachgoers and behaving aggressively with the stick. He was observed mumbling to himself and acting animatedly. Despite attempts to ignore him, the individual continued to approach and confront individuals on the beach. The individual was searched and subsequently transported to the detention center. Based on the evidence gathered, it was determined that the individual had violated disorderly conduct laws by disturbing the peace and resisting officers without violence. Additionally, he provided false identification to law enforcement during the incident. The individual was charged with false identification, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer without violence. He received a 45-day jail sentence, with credit for 22 days served. During the court appearance, he pleaded guilty to all charges, received fines, and was released.
