On January 17, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a welfare check. Responding officers located a woman passed out behind the wheel of her car at an intersection. Officers were able to quickly wake her up. However, the police report indicates that officers could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle. As a result, the woman was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of those tests, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence. She refused to submit to an evidential breath test and she was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
