Celina Police Department May 6th, 2021 (05/06/2021) --- On May 6th of 2021, officers from the Celina Police Department were dispatched to a reported house fire. When officers arrived on scene along with the Celina Fire Department, they observed two occupants of the house walking away from the residence, they were advised not to leave. According to the report, officers were familiar with these individuals and this residence. Officers then encountered the homeowner, and Renee Lovelace near the residence. Officers advised Renee to walk away from the residence, she then began yelling and cursing at them. She was advised to calm down and walk away from the residence for her safety. She continued to yell and scream profanities at officers. Once by the sidewalk, Renee walked towards one of the officers. He placed his hand up to keep Renee away from him, Renee then swung and struck the officer. Officers took Renee to the ground to attempt to gain control of her. Once on the ground, Renee pulled her arms away from officers. Renee then grabbed a hold of one of the officers tasers. The officer was able to remove her hand from the taser, while doing so, the taser holster broke from his duty belt. She continued to pull her arms away from officers and would not let officers place her in handcuffs. Shortly after officers were able to gain control of Renee and place her in handcuffs. Officers then escorted Renee to one of their vehicles. While walking to the patrol vehicle, Renee continued to pull away from officers. She then lunged at one of the officers. She continued to yell profanities. Once at the patrol vehicle, Renee refused to get in the vehicle. Renee had to be pulled into the patrol vehicle due to her refusing to get in the vehicle. Once in the patrol vehicle, she was transported to the Mercer County Jail and booked in for assault. Officers then spoke with the homeowner, who had revealed that in an earlier altercation, Renee was upset after being told to leave another residents room. During a physical altercation with one of the residents, it was also revealed that Renee had pulled a knife on this subject. The homeowner was able to get the knife away from Renee, and she then went downstairs. Renee proceeded to inform another resident that she was going to burn down the house with all (three) residents inside it. Around this time, the residents heard the smoke detectors going off near the stairs. A resident went downstairs and found that Renee had started a fire on the stairway. They were able to get out of the resident. Officers were advised that Renee had started fires in the stairway, living room, and the kitchen.
