On 6/25/24 I, Sgt. House, was monitoring Jonesboro PD’s radio channel. JPD advised they were in a vehicle pursuit in the area of Tara Blvd and Highway 138. JPD requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office. I began responding to the area. On N. Main St near Highway 138 I observed the pursuit coming toward me heading South. The JPD officer in pursuit yielded the primary position to me and I began pursuing the vehicle South on N. Main St. then immediately turned West onto Highway 138. The violator vehicle continued recklessly fleeing toward the busy major intersection of Highway 138 and Tara Blvd. Had the pursuit continued, a serious risk of great bodily harm would have been present when the violator vehicle entered the intersection. To preserve life, I performed a PIT on the violator vehicle by using my driver’s side pit bumper and pushing into the passenger side rear bumper causing the rear tires to lose traction and spin to the right. The vehicle came to a rest between the curb, my patrol car, and a second Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle. I exited my vehicle and deployed my k9 partner as the driver, Latron Taylor, exited the vehicle to flee on foot. Upon sight of my k9 partner Taylor surrendered with his hands in the air and froze until I pulled him by the collar of his shirt onto the ground and JPD placed him into custody. I then held the passenger at gunpoint until other officers were able to detain him and remove him from the vehicle. GSP arrived on scene and worked the accident. (GSP case number: xxxxxxxx). The suspects and vehicle were turned over to JPD and I returned to service. * Disclaimer: This video is for educational purposes only, showcasing the dangers and potential ramifications of fleeing from law enforcement.
