buymeacoffee.com/BlueLineLens On May 11, 2024, Nutley Police were dispatched to CVS on Harrison Street following a report of a shoplifting. The caller described a Black male, approximately 5'5", wearing blue pants, a jean jacket, and a hat, carrying two backpacks full of soap products. Surveillance footage provided by the CVS supervisor, Ms. Guerna Pierre, further detailed the suspect's clothing, including pink pants worn under blue pants and a gray jacket with pink clothing underneath. The total value of the stolen Dove Bar soaps was $160.06. Officers quickly canvassed the area and located a man matching the description, later identified as Mr. Darryl Hill, walking south on Franklin Avenue. His distinctive pink clothing, visible from the surveillance images, provided probable cause for officers to detain him. During questioning, Mr. Hill attempted to evade officers and was subsequently taken to the ground, at which point stolen soap products spilled from his backpacks. Due to the matching clothing and the recovered merchandise, Mr. Hill was arrested for shoplifting. A search incident to arrest also yielded a glass pipe with drug residue, commonly used for inhaling drugs. Mr. Hill was transported to headquarters, where additional checks for contraband were conducted. He was found with five confirmed packs of stolen Dove Bar soap, along with other soap products. Further investigation by officers located the discarded hat, jean jacket, and blue pants matching the suspect's description in nearby garbage cans, confirming they were the clothes worn during the incident. As a result of his actions, Mr. Hill was charged with Shoplifting, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest (for attempting to flee and tensing his arms while being handcuffed), and Obstruction of Administration of Law. All charges were placed on summons S2024000110, with a court date set for May 29, 2024, at Nutley Municipal Court. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. #cirme #news #shoplifing
