Election workers contacted police after reporting that several people had set up campaign materials inside a marked restricted area. Among them was Republican Florida House candidate Jeff Buongiorno, who challenged the boundary and questioned whether officials had the authority to remove him. The disagreement eventually ended with Buongiorno being taken into custody. As Nancy recorded the encounter on her phone, deputies turned their attention to her. She identified herself as a citizen journalist and said she was also there to check her ballot, but the situation quickly led to a second arrest. Buongiorno and Nancy were both released on bond.
