The Akron Police were dispatched to the intersection of Ardella Ave and Triplett Blvd regarding a disabled vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer observed a vehicle blocking multiple lanes of Triplett Blvd. Richardson was found outside her locked and running vehicle, attempting to re-enter through a partially open window. When questioned, Richardson claimed her vehicle had suddenly stopped while she was driving. However, a quick inspection revealed significant damage to the vehicle's right front corner, indicating recent involvement in a crash, which Richardson denied. Following a distinct fluid trail northbound on Ardella, the officer discovered another vehicle that had been struck by Richardson on its left side. Richardson exhibited signs of impairment, including unsteadiness and slurred speech, and admitted to consuming one drink earlier. She consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), during which she exhibited various indicators of impairment, including Lack of Smooth Pursuit during Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), inability to maintain balance during the Walk and Turn, and difficulty with the One Leg Stand. Richardson was arrested on suspicion of OVI and taken to the station for breathalyzer testing. At the station, she became increasingly hostile and combative, attempting to bite an officer when being restrained. Refusing a chemical test at 0006hrs, Richardson was restrained and transported to Summit County Jail.
