On May 28, 2025, around 6:45 p.m., Mifflin Township Police Officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Mecca Drive and Perdue Avenue. The passenger in the car fled the scene. When officers pursued the suspect, he turned around and opened fire, hitting both officers. Those officers were both taken to Grant Medical Center, one in critical condition. As of Thursday afternoon, that officer remains in critical condition. The other officer is expected to be discharged today. The suspect, 21-year-old Daveonte Dixon, remains at large, and investigators believe he is armed and dangerous. FCSO is asking the community to remain vigilant, and if you see Dixon, call 911 and do not approach him. Charges have been filed against Dixon for 1 count of attempted murder and 2 counts of felonious assault. The driver of the car has cooperated with investigators. At this time, he is not facing any charges.
