Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 4:09 a.m. on October 26, 2024, Officer Donna Zorbas from the Wauconda Police rushed to a car crash on Highway 12. The spot was near the Route 176 overpass. She found a 2016 Buick smashed into guardrails. It had slid into an embankment between northbound and southbound lanes. Airbags popped out. The car was wrecked beyond repair. The driver was 21-year-old Britny Murrieta. Three passengers rode with her. All were under 21. While talking to Britny, Zorbas smelled alcohol. She spotted clear signs of impairment too. Medics showed up. They checked Britny in the ambulance. There, Britny said she drank earlier that night. She claimed it did not affect her driving. Each passenger admitted drinking at a Halloween party. Open alcohol containers filled the Buick. The crash, alcohol smell, impairment clues, and open bottles gave Zorbas cause. She held Britny for DUI suspicion. Handcuffs went on. Britny went into the patrol car. They drove to Wauconda Police Department. The three others got a ride there too. Later, each got a court summons for underage drinking. At the station, Britny agreed to sobriety tests. She mentioned being five months pregnant. She took a breath test next. It showed 0.14% blood alcohol. That beat the 0.08% limit by almost double. Zorbas read the motorist warning form. Britny okayed more breath samples. After processing, she went home. Court summonses waited: Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)) Driving under the influence - BAC .08 or more (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1)) Transportation or possession of open alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-502(a)) Failure to reduce speed (625 ILCS 5/11-601(a)) Contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor (720 ILCS 5/12C-30(a)) 0:28 why are you drinking if you’re pregnant should have been the question.
