On March 29, 2024, Rio Rancho Police Officers were dispatched to a domestic violence in progress. A third-party caller advised that the subject's vehicle had driven off the road and was badly damaged. When officers arrived, they detained the boyfriend and made contact with the 18-year-old woman, who was the victim of an assault. Officers noticed that the woman exhibited signs of being intoxicated. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital because of injuries she sustained to her face and mouth. At the hospital she submitted to alternative sobriety testing, but she refused consent for a blood draw. She was ultimately charged with driving while under the influence and having an open container of alcohol. The outcome of her case is discussed at the end of the video.
