#news #police #arrest #cops Report: On 06/07/2022, Officers got out in reference to a warrant service attempt. While on uniformed patrol in the area Officers noticed the suspect walking up from the Racetrac (wearing a red shirt, red hat, black pants, a backpack, and carrying a black plastic bag). While driving passed him at the time, the suspect was not trying to make eye contact with officers and looked as if he was trying to conceal his face. OFC Holcombe (who I was riding in the patrol car with at the time) also noticed that Gresham had what looked like a handgun sticking out of his waistband area and Gresham looked as if he was trying to conceal that as well. Officers knew the suspect to have multiple felony probation violation warrants out of Clarke County (warrants were confirmed through GCIC). Once warrants were confirmed through GCIC, Officers turned around and attempted to make contact with the suspect. As they approached the suspect in the patrol vehicle, they pulled up directly behind him. As Officers got out of the vehicle, Officers called to the suspect by first name to which the suspect stopped briefly and looked at them. As they both approached the suspect, he proceeded to take off running. During the brief chase, the suspect threw down the black plastic bag in his hand and the bookbag on his back. The suspect also kept reaching into his waistline as if trying to keep the firearm in his waistline from falling out to which officers gave verbal commands to stop reaching before he got tased. The suspect was eventually detained (DLBB) in the area (a known dr*g house and highly complained location in the community). EMS was called While awaiting EMS arrival, a search of his person was conducted. Inside of his boxers was the firearm that OFC Holcombe saw and a folding knife. The firearm on the suspect was stolen earlier this date out of Clarke County. It was reported stolen along with other items. In his bookbag were items belonging to Anthony to include his I.D card and flask with the name "Anthony' on it. In the suspect bookbag was also a case that contained a small baggie that contained a white powdered substance and small baggie containing a blue powdered substance. Under Miranda, the suspect stated that the white substance was Fentanyl and that the blue substance was crushed up anti-depressant pills that he received the last time he was in the jail (to which is also suspected to be Fentanyl). When running a criminal history on the suspect, it showed that the suspect is a convicted felon from a burglary that occurred in 2018.
