On April 28, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to the CVS after receiving a call about a woman with a knife threatening an elderly customer. Officer Dorado rushed into the store with his firearm displayed. He quickly switched to his less-lethal Taser when he did not see a weapon displayed. The woman initially complied and went to the ground. However, she quickly got back up, prompting Officer Dorado to tell her that she is going "to ride the lightning". The woman, once again, complied with orders to get on the ground. Officers were able to take her into custody. She was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Resisting, Evading, or Obstructing an Officer. The outcome of the case is discussed at the end of the video.
