What started as a car stuck in a ditch quickly turned into a DUI arrest officers say got out of control. Late at night in New Jersey, police responded after a woman’s vehicle ended up off the road near a residential property. Officers arrived to find her confused about where she had been, where she was going, and how she ended up in the ditch. During the initial investigation, she admitted to drinking at a local pub and told officers she had consumed about three drinks before trying to drive home. The situation escalated when officers began field sobriety testing and noticed difficulty following instructions, balancing, and completing the investigation steps. As the DUI investigation continued, officers attempted standardized tests to determine impairment, but the encounter became more chaotic when the arrest was announced. Police then made the arrest decision for driving while intoxicated, and additional charges followed after officers said she resisted and struck an officer during the takedown. By the end, she was transported for processing while officers secured her dog, vehicle, and personal property at the scene.
