On March 23, 2023, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, a Marshfield PD officer conducted a traffic stop due to a vehicle's malfunctioning headlight. The driver, initially identifying himself as Anthony, claimed that he and his passenger were en route to a gas station. The officer noted the driver's reluctance to maintain eye contact and found it suspicious that they had bypassed several gas stations from their stated origin. Further investigation revealed that the driver's actual name was Eric and he had used a deceased relative's name as an alias due to an active warrant against him. Eric was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, operating while revoked, IID tampering/failure to install and bail jumping.
