Official report below: "On 02/11/2024, at approximately 0039 hours, (redacted), called 911 reporting he needed help near mile 17 of Kalifornsky Beach Road. (redacted), a cab driver for the Alaska Cab Company, reported he was stopped on the side of the road with a drunk male passenger who had busted his windshield and was trying to fight with him. I responded. While responding dispatch advised (redacted) reported the male had walked into the woods just off the ATV trail parallel to the road. I arrived a few moments later and found the cab parked on the northbound shoulder just prior to the Kalifornsky Beach Christian Center as it was driving from Kenai. I parked on the shoulder and walked towards the wood line on the northbound side of the road. Within a few moments I observed a male hunkered down behind a tree trying to hide. I called for him to put his hands up. He tried to comply but appeared to have difficulty balancing without using hands. His speech was very thick and slurred and he was difficult to understand. As I walked to within about 20 feet of him I could smell an odor of alcoholic beverages coming from his breath and person. That odor grew stronger as I neared him. I noticed his eyes were red and watery. I handcuffed him and escorted him to my patrol car. I identified him by name and date of birth as Steven (redacted). I read (redacted) the Miranda warning. He indicated he understood his rights. He seemed confused about where he had come from. He admitted he had argued with (redacted) and had punched the windshield during his fit of rage. He told me he was remorseful for that. He admitted he had been trying to hide from me. (redacted) was speaking to Trooper Kumfer. I walked up as the interview was concluding but did hear (redacted) say (redacted). Damage to the cab was estimated at about $900.00. Trooper Kumfer took digital images of the scene. (redacted) was arrested for third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree assault, disorderly conduct, second-degree robbery, and fourth degree theft. I transported (redacted) to the Wildwood Pretrial Center for remand. At pretrial he provided a breath sample for a preliminary breath test device. His breath alcohol concentration was .308 g/210L." Steven pled guilty to Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 3 and all other charges were dropped. He was ordered to pay approximately $4,000 in fines and restitution and required to complete 25 hours of community service. It is unclear how much, if any, time was spent in jail.
