On May 2,2024 in San Bernardino County a California Highway Patrolman pulled up behind a Honda parked in the middle Hodge Road near Barstow. When the officer attempted to stop the Honda, the driver sped off, exiting onto Interstate 15 Northbound in an attempt to evade the officer reaching speeds of 90 mph. Honda was eventually stopped using a spike strip near Field Road. Shortly after the successful tire spike the driver's side tire separated from the wheel and came off the Honda. The Honda then attempted to pass a semi-truck and trailer on the right shoulder and became stuck. The driver then exited the car attempting to flee on foot but was taken into custody within 100 feet of the car without further incident. The Honda had been stolen two months earlier Fort Collins Kia in Colorado. The Driver Kirk Foustein Beitey was arrested and booked into the Barstow Jail on the following charges: 496D(A) - Receiving Stolen Property - Motor Vehicle 10851(A) - Take Vehicle W/O Owner's Consent 2800.1(A) - Evading Peace Officer California Highway Patrol Officers Involved: CHP Officer D.
