Drunk EMT Hurls Racial Slur at Officer, Instantly Arrested When police were called to a disturbance involving an intoxicated couple outside a restaurant in Rincon, Georgia, they found April and her husband arguing with business staff and refusing to leave. Despite being visibly drunk, April insisted she was an EMT—then told officers that if they were ever injured, she wouldn’t help them. Moments later, she looked directly into a body camera and shouted a racial slur at an officer. That’s when the handcuffs came out. As April was loaded into the back of the patrol car, her husband was warned to leave the area or face jail himself. At the Effingham County Jail, officers briefed the jail staff, who wasted no time putting April in her place. What do you think? Should EMTs be held to a higher standard when dealing with law enforcement—or was this just alcohol talking?
