Troop G were informed of a pursuit involving Texarkana PD (Texas) which had crossed into Arkansas. TPD terminated the pursuit and Cpl Dale Young (G-21) later located the vehicle. The suspect fled leading Arkansas & Texas Troopers on a high speed chase with several spikes and pit attempts and shots fired. Sgt R. Shelton (G-4) Assists. Report: On July 26th, 2023, at around 9:18 p.m., I was notified that Texarkana Texas Police Department was pursuing a stolen bobtail truck southbound on North Stateline Ave. While I was traveling to Stateline Avenue, Texarkana Texas Police Department canceled their pursuit per their policy and supervisor’s termination. While on East 9th Street, I saw the truck southbound on Stateline Avenue. At this point, the truck was in Texas, and I did not try to stop the truck. While following the truck, it turned west onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The truck then turned right onto Wood Street, and then made another right onto West 19th Street, and then north on North Stateline Ave. Now that we were in Arkansas, I activated my emergency lights and siren to perform a traffic stop at 9:24 p.m. The truck did not stop, so I checked in pursuit. The truck then turned right onto Arkansas Blvd. The truck then made numerous turns onto several city streets before we ended up traveling back Southbound onto Stateline Ave. The truck then turned eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. At this time the truck was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. The truck then turned left onto Hickory Street. Hickory Street is a two-way street. The truck made numerous turns on several city streets and came back out, northbound, on Stateline Ave. The truck continued north out of Texarkana on US 71. I then attempted a TVI, Tactical Vehicle Intervention, on the truck 3 times, but was unsuccessful. The truck turned around and traveled south on US 71 back towards Texarkana. Due to the danger of letting the vehicle get back into a populated area, Sgt. Ryne Shelton attempted to disable the vehicle by shooting the tires. Sgt. Shelton was unsuccessful in disabling the vehicle. The vehicle entered the city limits of Texarkana and stopped at Stateline Avenue. and East 15th St. The suspect got out of the vehicle, and started to run on foot, but then stopped and complied with orders at 9:47 pm. The suspect, Darrell Hatchett, was taken into custody. During the pursuit, the truck ran multiple red lights and stop signs, drove recklessly all over the road around traffic and pedestrians, and drove left of center. My top speed during the pursuit was 90 mph. Hatchett was taken to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office and booked in for theft by receiving over $25000, felony fleeing by vehicle, driving on suspended, driving a commercial motor vehicle without CDL, reckless driving, fail to obey stop sign, fail to stop at red light, wrong way on a one way street, and driving left of center.
