On July 30 last year, Steven Barham made the mistake of trying to escape from our Roads Policing officers after being pulled over for driving without a valid MOT. Barham, 36, of Gainsborough Close, Salisbury, was pursued through Bemerton Heath when he decided to veer off the road and down a grassy slope to his building. He was pursued on foot to his flat, where he was subsequently located and arrested at taser point. Despite claiming not to have used cocaine “in donkey’s years”, he then tested positive for both cocaine and cannabis. Today at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to careless driving, failing to stop for police, drug driving, driving without insurance and driving without a valid MOT. He was given a community order, with up to 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days. He is also required to complete 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also disqualified from driving for three years.
