According to West Palm Beach Police, a man was stopped at a red light when he pulled up next to Monique King and asked for her number. King allegedly told him to hand over his iPhone 14 Pro Max so she could put her number in it. But the moment he handed her the phone, police say she drove away with it. The man followed her, repeatedly asking for his phone back, but according to the report, King told him he wasn't getting it back. Eventually, she pulled into Gaines Park, walked into the community center, and denied having the phone at all. There was just one problem with that story. Police were given permission to search her Cadillac, and the alleged victim used his Apple Watch to make the missing phone ring. Officers say they found the black iPhone ringing inside the center console of her vehicle. The phone was returned to its owner, and King was placed under arrest for grand theft. And believe it or not, the stolen phone wasn't even the reason police were originally called. Officers say the initial call involved an alleged hit-and-run—but what they ultimately discovered turned this encounter into something completely different.
