Just after 9 p.m., an officer spotted the car and began following it while waiting for backup to arrive. Once additional officers got there, they conducted a felony traffic stop and took the driver, John Finney, into custody. But when officers searched the vehicle, they made a horrifying discovery. Inside was John’s wife, Amy Finney, who was found deceased. Investigators later learned that John had allegedly been driving around for hours before police finally stopped him. Evidence recovered during the investigation led detectives back to the couple’s home, where authorities believe Amy was shot during a domestic dispute. John Finney was arrested and charged with first-degree murder before being booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
