On a sweltering summer evening at Old Swan Fire Station in Liverpool, Red Watch springs into action when a stolen car is deliberately set ablaze on Waverley Road. As firefighter Peter Huff swaps his driver’s seat for the cook’s apron, the crew races through city streets under blue lights, only to discover a malicious blaze fueled by accelerants in the passenger compartment. The heat, the rush to contain the fire, and the ever-present risk of hidden dangers bring viewers face-to-face with the split-second decisions that define life on the fireground. This is the programme 'Firefighters'. Meanwhile, just two miles away in the city centre, White Watch confronts an even more unpredictable threat: toxic fumes of unknown origin in a residential flat. Their search leads them through cellars and into a derelict warehouse where they uncover a makeshift squat filled with sleeping bags, discarded needles and human waste. Charged with securing the scene, the team navigates structural hazards and health risks that most of us would never imagine facing on a routine call.
