He pulled the driver over. After she stopped, he approached and met her. Her name was Astrid Valdez-Guzman. While talking to Astrid, he smelled alcohol. He saw clear signs of impairment too. She said she'd left a bar that night. Suspecting she was drunk, he had her step out for sobriety tests. She passed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus check. But she ignored directions on the Walk and Turn, so they quit. Her wild driving, impairment clues, and failed tests led to a DWI arrest. Police towed her Jeep for a 12-hour hold under John's Law. They took her to the station for booking. There, they read her the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to give breath samples. Officer Thomas Mallon ran the Alcotest. It showed 0.17% blood alcohol—twice the 0.08% limit. Once done, they let her go to Edgar Cisneros. He signed the liability warning for her, awaiting court. Officer Burns gave her two tickets: Operating under the influence (39:4-50). Reckless driving (39:4-96). On October 16, 2024, court found her guilty of driving under the influence. She got a 3-month ignition interlock, 12 hours at a drunk driver center, and $640 in fines. The reckless charge got dropped in the plea deal. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
