36% of stop and searches in July found weapons, drugs or other evidence of offending - the highest rate we have ever recorded. This is why stop and search is one of our most important tools in tackling violence, removing weapons from our streets and helping to keep London safe. Last year, officers seized at least 3800 weapons and recovered illegal drugs on more than 27,800 occasions. We worked with communities and young people to write the Stop and Search Charter, where they told us they wanted improvements in the quality of encounters, greater transparency and better accountability. Now, we've introduced a new charter delivery plan, bringing together a range of improvements focused on training, accountability and technology. From enhanced officer training to regular reviews of encounters, we're working to improve every stop and search interaction.
