On September 14, 2025, Las Cruces Police Sergeant Duran stopped a vehicle that was allegedly driving in the opposite lane of traffic. The vehicle was being driven by a 19-year-old woman. She admitted to consuming a couple of shots of alcohol several hours earlier. Officer Guerrero arrived and initiated a Driving While Under the Influence (DWI) investigation, which included standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, the woman was placed under arrest. Her dad arrived to pick up the vehicle and he was not happy. At the police station, the woman provided two breath samples and both registered 0.20% BAC. She was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
