On August 11, 2026, at approximately 2:27 p.m., Trooper Jeremy A. Elliott (#480) was notified by Troop H Telecommunications that the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was actively pursuing a vehicle westbound on State Highway 22 from the Delaware area. Trooper Elliott activated his emergency lights and siren and responded to assist with the pursuit. Upon entering the Paris city limits, Trooper Elliott observed Paris Police Department officers positioned at several major intersections to assist with traffic control and the ongoing pursuit. He was advised the pursuit was approaching Paris on State Highway 22 and staged near the Sonic parking lot in an attempt to safely intercept the suspect vehicle. As the suspect vehicle passed his location, Trooper Elliott entered the roadway and assumed the primary position in the pursuit. He notified Troop H Telecommunications that he had taken over and continued westbound on State Highway 22 with his emergency lights and siren activated. The pursuit continued through the Paris area before reaching a less-congested, three-lane section of State Highway 22. After determining that traffic conditions permitted the maneuver and there was no oncoming traffic in the immediate area, Trooper Elliott conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) using the front passenger-side bumper of his patrol vehicle. The TVI caused the suspect vehicle to veer to the left and leave the roadway, entering the eastbound ditch. The vehicle struck the terrain and rolled multiple times before coming to rest. Trooper Elliott and assisting officers and deputies immediately attempted to conduct a felony takedown. As they approached, the suspect vehicle began emitting a large amount of smoke, creating an additional safety concern. Officers attempted to open the vehicle's doors but were initially unable to gain entry. Trooper Elliott then used his department-issued expandable baton to break the rear driver-side window. An assisting deputy was subsequently able to access the vehicle, unlock the door, and assist in removing the driver. The driver was identified as Angela Sharp (DOB: 01/01/1970). Sharp was evaluated and treated at the scene by Logan County EMS before being transported to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith for further evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Following her medical evaluation and release from the hospital, Sharp will be taken into custody by the Logan County Sheriff's Office, which will proceed with the appropriate charges related to the pursuit and subsequent crash.
