It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At 2:38 a.m. on August 17, 2025, Patrolman Tyler Redy from the Deal Police Department spotted a black 2010 Honda Accord weaving wildly. Its headlights were off. This happened near the circle in nearby Interlaken. He gave chase. Then he pulled the car over at Norwood Avenue and Runyan Avenue in Deal. Redy stepped out. He approached the driver. She turned out to be 23-year-old Vanessa Pacquette. Vanessa explained she was behind the wheel of her friend's car. She called herself the designated driver. They had just left Johnny Mac's bar in Asbury Park. At first, she said she hadn't drunk any alcohol. Redy suspected otherwise. He radioed for backup. Soon, Patrolman Noah DeFazio showed up to help. They asked Vanessa to step out. She tried the field sobriety tests. DeFazio began with the eye test, called HGN. He saw all six signs of trouble. Plus, her eyes jerked upward too. Next came the walk-and-turn test. Vanessa missed touching heel to toe on every step. The last one was standing on one leg. She didn't lift her foot right. And she dropped it too soon. Her wild driving sealed it. She later admitted to drinks that night. The failed tests clinched the case. Officers arrested her for driving while intoxicated. They held her car for 12 hours under John's Law. Redy drove her to the Deal station for booking. There, they read her the required statement for drivers. Vanessa agreed to give breath samples.
