Deputies Pursue Driver at 100 MPH Through Kansas City Neighborhoods Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Ram at the BP station on NE Parvin Road. The driver — 29‑year‑old Johnathan Davis Meroney — immediately fled, kicking off a high‑speed pursuit through Kansas City’s Northland. Meroney led deputies through neighborhoods and major roads at 70–100 mph, blowing through multiple stop signs and red lights, driving into oncoming lanes and through yards to escape. During the chase, he caused a crash with injuries at I‑35 & N. Antioch, then continued fleeing at dangerous speeds. The pursuit stretched across Brighton Ave, Vivion Rd, Antioch Rd, Chouteau Trafficway, and multiple residential streets. Spike strips we unsuccessfully deployed and several TVI maneuvers were attempted, but Meroney continued to flee until he finally lost control at the dead end of N. Olive, crashing into a chain‑link fence. Deputies conducted a high‑risk stop and took Meroney into custody without further incident. He was charged with Aggravated Fleeing (Class D felony), later upgraded to a Class B felony when it was learned that injuries resulted from the earlier collision.
