On March 8, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute. A 35-year-old woman had allegedly been violent towards her brother and sister. Officers interviewed the victims and then attempted to make contact with the women. However, she locked herself inside the house and initially refused to communicate with the officers. She eventually came outside, but when officers approached her, she retreated back into the house. Officers followed her inside the house in an attempt to detain her. She resisted and a struggle ensued which resulted in the woman being taken down to the ground. She allegedly attempted to disarm one of the officers. EMS arrived to evaluate the woman after she complained of an injury. She was eventually transported to the County Jail, where she was booked on (1) Criminal Sexual Penetration; (2) Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer; (3) Assault; and (4) Resisting an Officer. On April 9, 2026, she pleaded no contest to the Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer charge. All of the other charges were dismissed. Online court records indicate she violated the terms of her probation and was recently released from custody.
