The Albuquerque Police Department touted this case as an example of how their ShotSpotter technology works. On this day, it alerted police officers that someone was firing over a dozen times in Albuquerque's "War Zone” in broad daylight. Police boxed in the car within minutes — the woman behind the wheel says she was learning to drive, and the men in her car admitted firing rounds as she was driving through the area. 🎥 In today's copyrighted documentary, we report on an incident that occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ShotSpotter registered a series of activations in Albuquerque's International District, the neighborhood known locally as the "War Zone." According to officers on scene, the system detected more than a dozen rounds in a short window. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a high-risk stop. Two men had been dropped off at a nearby trailer park minutes earlier; officers searched the area and were unable to locate them. On the body-worn camera, the woman driving says the car is hers and that the men had been teaching her to drive. She tells officers she never asks her husband about his personal business and breaks down when they explain she could face a conspiracy charge. The front-seat passenger then tells officers directly that he and a friend fired a handgun out the window while the car was moving — a gun he says they had just bought and were testing. The woman was released without arrest and driven home; she was never charged. Investigators recovered shell casings from four separate locations, and a search warrant on the vehicle turned up two pistols and 190 rounds of ammunition. Court records identify the two men arrested as Enzo Parra Jimenez, 21, and David Arias, 19, both of Venezuela. Each was originally charged with eight felonies. Court records show both pled guilty to a single count — shooting at or from a motor vehicle — and each received a conditional discharge and probation, meaning no conviction is entered if probation is completed. Both men are out. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 ShotSpotter Chaos Begins 00:28 High Risk Traffic Stop 01:30 Two Suspects Slip Away 04:07 Questioning the Driver 06:55 Conspiracy Warning 08:14 Shooter Confession 09:41 Release and Transport 10:43 Evidence and Search Warrant 11:50 Plea Deal Fallout 📺 MORE LIKE THIS — watch the latest Breaking Bodycams documentaries: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL89-g15XsVc0WxE8UISQXCrCctoEPo46v 📌 ABOUT BREAKING BODYCAMS Breaking Bodycams covers law enforcement encounters across the country, with a heavy focus on the Southwest and New Mexico.
