Police bodycam footage captures a dangerous and chaotic arrest after officers responded to a suspicious person call involving a man caught on camera at his ex-wife’s residence. According to the report, the suspect was later located driving through the area and failed to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop. The pursuit quickly came to an end when the suspect pulled into his residence, jumped out of the vehicle, and ran toward the front door. Officers moved in to stop him before he could get inside, deploying a TASER as he tried to enter the home. What followed was a violent struggle inside the entryway as the suspect fought officers, struck a sergeant in the face multiple times, and kicked officers while resisting arrest. During the fight, officers observed the suspect reach for Sgt. McCarty’s duty weapon in an apparent attempt to disarm her. Officers responded immediately and deployed the TASER multiple times to gain control and end the threat. After the suspect was finally restrained, police continued their investigation into additional property damage tied to the incident, including damage to a rental vehicle and a glass front door at a family member’s residence. This real police activity bodycam video shows how quickly a suspicious person call can escalate into a dangerous confrontation involving fleeing, resisting arrest, assault on officers, and an attempted weapon grab.
