Later, while driving the stolen vehicle in Farmington, he crashed into a snowplow and abandoned the Durango. He then attempted multiple carjackings at a condominium complex, successfully stealing a Toyota RAV4 and again injuring the owner with a knife. Bristol Police were alerted as Shoemaker-Gonzalez sped toward Bristol. Officers spotted the stolen RAV4 at the Mountain Laurel Apartment Complex, where Shoemaker-Gonzalez fled on foot after getting stuck. He then stole Sergeant Joshua Pratt’s parked cruiser. Officer Seth Petzing fired four shots at the vehicle, hitting Shoemaker-Gonzalez in the hand and legs as he drove off, narrowly avoiding a school bus. Shoemaker-Gonzalez crashed into Palma's Diner after driving 2.5 more miles. Hospital tests showed he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, oxycodone, and PCP. Released from the hospital on January 15, he claimed he didn’t remember the day, questioned why he was shot, and said he planned to sue the police. If you’re reading this you’re a real one!
