On November 6, 2024, an off-duty Lacey Police Officer found a 24-year-old woman passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle. As she was waiting for uniformed officers to arrive, she banged on the window of the vehicle in an attempt to wake up the woman. When the woman awoke, she apparently took her foot off the brake and the vehicle moved slowly through the traffic intersection. Officers arrived to find the woman dazed and confused. After admitting that she had consumed a half bottle of red wine, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs). She refused FSTs and a portable breath test. She was then placed under arrest and was transported to the Lacey police station. She submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.236%, nearly three times the legal limit. She was issued a citation for having physical control of a motor vehicle under the influence. Online court records to not indicate the outcome of the case.
